K-3 Art Excursion

Students admiring art

K-3 students at Hannans Road public school visited the Art Gallery of NSW on the 18/9/19. Despite the weather, we had an excellent day being ‘art explorers’. We did an interactive tour of the gallery becoming artists by looking and admiring the art and creating our own art at the gallery. Unfortunately we could not have lunch and walk around the Royal Botanic gardens like we had planned due to the rain. Instead we enjoyed our crunch and sip and lunch inside the gallery. K-2 students then went downstairs and explored the Aboriginal exhibit and sketched their own Aboriginal art piece. Year 3 students have been learning about Abstract art and went upstairs to find the abstract art at the gallery, here they discussed the meanings of the artworks and drew their own abstract art pieces.
