Kindergarten Transition 2021
Welcome to Hannans Road Public School! We are very excited for your child and family to be joining the Hannans Road community in 2021. Our school is a wonderful, positive learning environment and we have lots of fun planned for the school year.
What to expect when your child starts Kindergarten
During Term 4 2020 (Oct-Dec 2020), children that are starting school in 2021 will attend transition days.
Kindergarten Transition provides children with an opportunity to engage in a number of activities. This is one of the ways we get to know your child so that we can ensure a smooth start to Kindergarten 2021. Children also get to meet the teachers and staff of Hannans Road, get to know the school and meet some of the students.
We will be holding our Kindergarten Transition program over 3 days:
- Wednesday 4 November - 10:00am – 11:00am
- Wednesday 11 November - 10:00am – 11:00am
- Wednesday 18 November - 10:00am – 11:00am
We hope your child can make each of these days.
What happens during the day in Kindergarten?
In Kindergarten, your child continues to build on the important skills they have developed with you at home.
These skills may include your child being able to talk about things that interest them; draw pictures; pretend to write; recognise colours, numbers, sizes and shapes; and share with others.
Is your child ready for Kindergarten?
Here are some of the questions to ask:
- Can they make an independent decision and follow through on this?
- Do they have ideas of their own?
- Can they follow two or three instructions at the same time?
- Can they move on to new activities easily?
- Do they separate well from their carer?
- Do they show interest in other kids?
- Do they interact with other children?
- Can they recognise and express their feelings and needs?
- Can they concentrate on a task?
- How do they deal with frustration?
Enrolments
Hannans Road Public School is now accepting enrolments for Kindergarten 2021. Enrolling early provides sufficient time for our school to plan for the new kindergarten cohort and upcoming year.
You must be within area to enrol at Hannans Road Public School. While Department Guidelines limit our ability to accept out of area enrolments, if you feel you have special consideration to enrol at out school, please contact the office. You may use the School Finder to find your in area school.
Steps for enrolment:
Kindergarten students must be five years old by the 31st July in order to be enrolled.
1. Check School Finder to see your in area school.
2. Please take a look and download an enrolment form. You may complete this form, scan it and email it to the school via hannansrd-p.school@det.nsw.edu.au. Please remember to attach any additional documents (check page 15 of the application). If eligible you may complete this form online, see below for details.
