What is high potential and gifted education?

High potential and gifted education (HPGE) is how our school supports students with advanced learning needs.

We do this through:

effective teaching strategies like enrichment, extension and acceleration

tailored support during lessons that stretch, challenge and inspire

access to a wide range of opportunities both within and beyond our school.

Our students participate in a range of statewide programs to extend and enrich student potential.

At Hannans Road our students have the opportunity to participate in:

Combined Schools Music Festival choir and performances
Create - a HPGE program in the arts through which students have the opportunity to work with teachers and industry professionals to enhance their skills by creating an original musical over four days of workshops and two performances.
Regional and State Athletics Carnivals and sporting teams
PSSA sporting opportunities

Students from Year 4 - Year 6 have the opportunity to participate on Create.

Create is an HPGE arts initiative where students collaborate with teachers and industry professionals to strengthen their skills while producing an original musical through four days of intensive workshops and two final performances.

Students’ artistic talents are celebrated and developed, with opportunities to exhibit their work at school events and in regional art galleries, sharing their creativity with the wider community.

We offer opportunities for students to join choir and dance ensembles, showcasing their talents at the Combined Schools Music Festivals.

Students demonstrating exceptional sporting ability can participate in district, regional, and state events, such as athletics carnivals and the Small Schools Swimming Carnival, with expert coaching available to help them achieve their best and showcase their skills.

Through Student Parliament, students take an active role in leadership, leading classes to create and present motions that help shape school life.
